When Jalene and Pete were willing to travel down to my neck of the woods all the way from the Port Austin area for their Lake St. Clair engagement shoot, I knew we had to make it a good one. Let me just say, frozen Lake St. Clair did not disappoint! The cold was so worth it for the frozen lake shots alone!
When we were first planning Jalene and Pete’s engagement session for this spot, I wasn’t even thinking going out on the lake was an option. Actually, it didn’t even cross my mind until we got there and there were a million more cars than normal! Once I saw all the ice fishers, the lightbulb went off in my head.
It was so cold this entire session, but especially out on the water. I think we only shot on the ice for less than two minutes because it was that cold. Jalene and Pete, you’re amazing! My fingers (which were the only thing on me exposed) were numb, so thank you for braving the extreme temps! I hope you thought it was as worth it as I did!
After getting some pictures that look like they were taken in heaven on earth, we headed away from the water a bit to get a few more. Jalene changed into the prettiest yellow dress that made her look just like princess Belle. And I got to meet the ring bearers, also known as Jalene and Pete’s little boys! They were even bigger troopers than their parents and we even snagged some of the cutest family shots you can see below too.
Getting to capture moments of couples so clearly in love is my favorite part of my job. These two were no exception! I’m so excited to head up to the Port Austin area for Jalene and Pete’s sweet wedding this summer and capture a glimpse of the life they’ve built together. Plus, if they can rock it in freezing temps for this frozen Lake St. Clair engagement session, I just know the warm summer weather will be perfect!
Until then, check out some of my favorites from this sweet (and cold) Lake St. Clair engagement session! Cheers!
