This blog is going to be a little extra special. A few weekends ago my best friend got married! Now I get to share all about Matt and Maranda’s Michigan backyard wedding. I’m going to try to hold back the tears writing this, but if it’s anything like reliving this wedding day, wish me luck.

This whole journey started back in February when Matt texted me to plan the proposal. So I told Maranda (aka Mern) that I got a new camera and wanted to test it out. I forced her to bare the freezing cold in February for this “practice shoot” turned into one of the best days of her life, and one of my favorite things to shoot to this day!

Fast forward, wedding planning started not long after that. First the date was set for October 2022, then June 2022, and then October of this year! And then when Mern asked me to be her maid of honor it really got real. I still can’t believe all the planning and prepping is over. It feels like forever ago but also just yesterday we were all giddy and emotional about planning watching the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy on her couch!

As far as photography for Matt and Maranda’s wedding day, I would’ve cloned myself if I could! Putting trust into someone else to take my best friend’s wedding pictures was hard! So I did the next best thing and hired an associate for the day.

Being able to plan everything from the timeline to the shot list, shoot their engagement session, and now edit and deliver their wedding gallery while still being completely present as a best friend on the wedding day was such a blessing. Now I get to share all about my favorite wedding to date (but I’m a little biased).

This whole day was so emotional in the best way possible. Between me, Mern’s mom, and her sisters and bridal party, we did enough crying for everyone there! Matt and Maranda’s Michigan backyard wedding was sweet and intimate and the best day any of us could’ve pictured.

I feel so lucky to have stood by their side that day and every day moving forward. And I’m so excited to be sharing all the goodness! Plus, my associate did an amazing job. I’m still giddy just all around!
